Yes, I have Big Ones...They are on the Inside.

Yes, I have Big One's. They are on the Inside.

Hello folks. The title of this blog is something I heard on South Park, and quickly adopted as a response to something people say to me, when they meet me for the first time. "You Have Big Balls."  They also tell me I'm "1 Crazy Lady" too.

As you can imagine, I have a million stories...enough to fill a book. Choosing a story or topic is my greatest challenge with writing this blog.  My racing career started in 1976 on flat-track motorcycles. The list of race bikes, race cars & trucks that have been a part of my life is long and diverse. Over the years, I've raced in/on circles, straight lines, road courses, dirt/clay, gravel, asphalt, banked, flat, 2 wheels, 4 wheels, 4X4, 1, 2, 4 & 8 cylinders, 2-strokes, 4-strokes, some on racing gas, some alcohol and currently burning Kerosene, 50cc's to 6,000#'s of Jet Thrust.. ALL FUN STUFF. If you want to see some of them, please visit my website photo gallery at www.jillcanusoraces.com   Currently, I drive Al Hanna's "Queen of Diamond's 2" Jet Dragster. www.hannamotorsportsjets.com

This topic is a BIG one, figuratively & literally.  There are two BIG B's that every racer has to juggle "Balls & Brains."  All of us have both and we need to use them wisely.  Most non-racing people have several seconds, minutes, hours and days to evaluate a situation, before making a decision. They have time for a normal "B to B" balance to happen.

Racers usually don't have the luxury of time, only having fractions of seconds to go through our evaluation process. Typically, this results in more Balls than Brains being used. Most of us know the results of this extremely unbalanced decision making...either a very Spectacular Save or an equally Spectacular Crash.

I have trained myself to maintain the highest level of focus and concentration, even while confronted with the unexpected. When you learn how to do this, time will slow down for you, allowing for a better 'B to B' balance. This usually produces a better end result. Don't get me wrong, the reason I've included the word usually several times is because nothing is ever for certain on a race track.

I know this because I've had the experience a couple of times. Occasionally, you can't slow time down...not even enough for a 100% Balls reaction. These situations happen faster than the speed of light, and are the deals where you have to solely rely on Pure Instinct and whatever greater power/guardian angels/good luck charms that you believe in, to pull you through.  I'll share my thoughts on Instinct and Experience for another blog.

Stay sharp, focused and fast!
